Virus scare for Nizaam Carr

Cape Town - Stormers flank Nizaam Carr missed the team’s pre-season training camp in Hermanus after contracting a virus which saw him being admitted to hospital.

After completing training on Monday, the Springbok started feeling sick and was taken to hospital later that evening suffering with aching body pains, severe headaches and a high fever.

Following a number of blood and other tests, however, Carr was given the all-clear.

“Flanker Nizaam Carr was admitted to hospital earlier this week for precautionary reasons after contracting a viral infection,” the Stormers posted on their official website.

Fellow loose forward Siya Kolisi (tight hamstring) also sat our training on Thursday and will remain sidelined until Monday as a precautionary measure, while centre Johnny Kotze suffered a minor ankle sprain earlier this week and will be out of action for approximately seven days.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
