Cape Town - Former Sharks director of rugby, Brendan Venter, is currently helping out at the Eastern Province Kings.
Kings caretaker coach Robbie Kempson told the Rugby365 website that Venter is with the Port Elizabeth side in an advisory capacity.
Venter last year led the Sharks to Currie Cup glory when they beat Western Province in the final at Newlands. He also previously helped English club Saracens to the Premiership title.
Kempson, the manager of the Eastern Province Rugby Academy, will fulfil the head coaching role until the union finds a new coach.
He said Venter has been assisting him with the process of keeping the team together and making sure they "get things on the road".
The Kings recently appointed Michael Horak and Tiger Mangweni as defence coaches, while former All Black Carlos Spencer is their new backline coach.
They are also after the services of Gary Gold to become head coach.
But in the meantime Kempson takes charge, starting with a warm-up match against the Cheetahs in Port Elizabeth on Saturday (17:00 kick-off).
