Cape Town - Next year’s Varsity Cup season will end with a derby match between a northern and southern XV.

According to Netwerk24, the game will be played Bloemfontein on Monday, April 22.

In years gone by, a season-ending fixture took place between a Varsity Cup Dream Team and the Junior Springboks.

The northern XV will be made up of players from UJ, Wits, Tuks, Pukke and Ixias, while the southern XV will consist of players from Shimlas, Maties, Ikeys and UWC.

The 2019 Varsity Cup will run from Monday, February 4 until Monday, April 15.

Maties won the 2018 edition when they beat Pukke 40-7 in the final in Stellenbosch.
