Maties to host Pukke in Varsity Cup final

Cape Town - Maties will host Pukke in the final of the 2018 Varsity Cup at their Danie Craven Stadium fortress in Stellenbosch.

Pukke beat UJ 60-31 in Monday's first semi-final, after which Maties thrashed Wits 65-18.

As the team that finished the regular season higher on the log, Maties will host the final on Monday, April 16 at 19:00.

Maties are three-time champions in the previous 10 years of Varsity Cup rugby, but have also lost in four finals, including in 2016 when they went down - away from home - to Pukke 7-6.

Back in 2009, Maties did manage to beat Pukke in the final - in Stellenbosch - 11-6.

In their earlier clash this season, the sides drew 33-33 in Potchefstroom.
