Cape Town Stadium to host Varsity Cup

Cape Town - Varsity Cup today announced the remainder of the Varsity Cup, Varsity Shield, Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby and Young Guns fixtures.

The final rounds will all be played at neutral venues, with tickets available at the respective venues.

These venues include the FNB Stadium, Rand Stadium, Cape Town Stadium, and Wanderers Rugby Club.

“We are excited about the full day of rugby action which will take place at the iconic Cape Town Stadium on 28 March, falling on Easter Monday,” said Varsity Cup CEO, Duitser Bosman. “Fans from across Cape Town are in for a feast of rugby entertainment starting at 13h00, including two North vs South derbies taking place between Maties and UJ, and Ikeys and Tuks. Another highlight is the repeat of last year’s Varsity Cup final when Pukke face Shimlas, and these two teams are enjoying a 70 year old rugby rivalry. Three of the matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport 1.”

The Varsity Cup fixtures have been adjusted to include match days on 21, 24, and 28 March, with Varsity Shield, Young Guns and Koshuis Rugby matches taking place on 19, 21, 24, 26 and 28 March. The dates and venues for the semi-finals and finals for all four Varsity Cup tournaments will be confirmed after the final round matches. Nine Varsity Cup matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport 201, while up-to-the-minute coverage will be available on www.varsitycup.co.za, Twitter (@VarsityCup), Facebook (Facebook/VarsityCup) and Instagram (@VarsityCupSA).

“We value all our fans, and we encourage everyone to bring their friends and family along to join us for the Varsity Cup action over the next two weeks. It will be a fun day out for the whole family, as we celebrate our stars of tomorrow, and provide the teams and players the opportunity to showcase their abilities after months of preparation,” Bosman concluded.

Tickets to all matches, including Varsity Shield, Young Guns and Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby, are available via the Varsity Sports App in the Google Play and App Store from next week, or at the respective stadium gates on the day.
