Sydney - Dual international Lote Tuqiri has been called into the Australian squad for rugby league's Four Nations tournament as a replacement for injured winger Jarrod Hayne.
Tuqiri, 31, has played both rugby league and rugby union for Australia and, if he takes the field during the Four Nations, could become the first player in history to switch from one international code to the other, and back again.
The powerful winger played five rugby league Tests for Australia in 2001 and 2002 after previously representing Fiji. He switched to rugby union in 2003 and played 67 Tests for the Wallabies.
Hayne was forced out of the Australian squad on Monday with a torn hamstring. Australia plays Papua New Guinea in its first Four Nations match Sunday in Sydney.
