We're rapt to still be in the race - Rennie

Cape Town - Chiefs head coach Dave Rennie couldn't hide his delight after his side's 60-21 victory over the Stormers secured them a place in the semi-finals.

Although his side's superb performance, in which they outscored their hosts by eight tries to three, was particularly pleasing, Rennie was extra happy as it will be the first time since 2013 - when they won the second of their two titles - that the Chiefs will take part in a semi-final play-off.

"We've fallen out at this stage (of the playoffs) the last couple of times," he said after the match at Newlands in Cape Town. 

"So we're just rapt to still be in the race."

Rennie expressed his delight with the pace and intensity which is charges put the Stormers to the sword.

"I thought we were pretty clinical," he added. 

"We played at a tempo - we wanted to move their big forwards around and I thought we did that pretty well.

"When we've been at our best this year, we've done the obvious well and we've got good support coming from depth. I thought that was pretty sharp today."
