Cape Town - Kwagga Smith was on the receiving end of a 'must-watch' tackle fail as the Lions fell to a 36-10 defeat against the dominant Crusaders in Christchurch on Friday.
Having started at No 8 - and also being elevated to captain in the absence of the injured Warren Whiteley - Smith gave it his all on the day in familiar fashion, but the Lions were simply outclassed.
The hosts scored five tries to just one from the Lions, but there was one five-pointer in particular that stood out.
The Crusaders were 10-3 up and on the attack as the end of the first half was approaching before the ball was spread wide to right wing Sevu Reece.
The Fijian took the ball at pace and went crashing into Smith, who tried to make the tackle but instead went flying backwards after the hit.
Reece went on to score the first of his two tries on the night - and luckily for Smith he was able to pick himself up and continue.
