Sydney - Wallabies hooker Tolu Latu was on Friday hit with a fine and had his licence suspended for six months after being convicted of drunk-driving last month.
The 26-year-old was found asleep at the wheel in Sydney's eastern suburbs without a valid licence in May, with members of the public reportedly having to break into his car to stop it rolling into an intersection.
He admitted the charges and was fined Aus$1 300 (US$896). Further punishment is possible with Rugby Australia's integrity unit reviewing the sentence.
Immediately after the incident, Latu was suspended for two games by the Waratahs and excluded from a Wallabies training camp.
"Everyone at NSW Rugby Union is extremely disappointed with Tolu's actions, but it's pleasing to see he's taking steps to address this behaviour through education and counselling," NSW Rugby chief Andrew Hore said in a statement.
Last month Latu, who has played 12 Tests, apologised and said he recognised the seriousness of his actions.
