Triple injury blow for beleaguered Kings

Cape Town - Southern Kings head coach Deon Davids has confirmed that three players will not be available for selection against the Jaguares on Friday, following injuries sustained during the game against the Sharks in Durban last Saturday.

Davids confirmed that hooker Martin Ferreira, wing Luzuko Vulindlu and flyhalf Elgar Watts would not be available for selection for the upcoming match.

"Martin has a dislocated rib and we don't see him coming back for the rest of the season. Luzuko has a hamstring tear that will require further scans to determine the extent of his injury, while Elgar has a foot tendon injury similar to Stefan Watermeyer that will see him out for at least two weeks," said Davids.

Davids said Thembelani Bholi, who was stretchered off during the match on Saturday, had been cleared by the medical team and had not sustained a concussion. He did have a bit of neck stiffness that was being treated, but would be available for selection.

Davids said the good news was that the flu bug that had been doing the rounds through the team seemed to have burnt itself out.

He also confirmed that Sti Sithole, who had undergone a recent appendectomy, had been sent home to recover.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
