Toulouse confirm Kolbe signing

Cape Town - Toulouse have confirmed the signing of Stormers fullback Cheslin Kolbe for the 2017/18 season.

The French club confirmed the news on their website on Wednesday after Kolbe had been heavily linked with the move towards the end of last year.

The Stormers confirmed to Sport24 on Wednesday that Kolbe is contracted to them until the end of the 2017 Super Rugby season and he is expected to be available for the franchise throughout the tournament.

Toulouse director of sport Fabien Pelous told the website that he had been made aware of Kolbe's ability when he represented Junior Springboks at the Under-20 World Cup in France back in 2013.

"Since then he has a lot of Super Rugby experience and he will be complimenting our side as a finisher," Pelous said, also making mention of Kolbe's aerial ability, kicking game and pace.

Kolbe was in Rio de Janeiro last year where he won a bronze medal with the South African Sevens side while he is yet to be capped at Test level.

Kolbe has spent his entire rugby career at Western Province and the Stormers.

The Stormers last week announced the signing of former Sharks, Kings and Bulls fullback, SP Marais.

Kolbe joins three other recent recruits to Toulouse: French scrumhalf Antoine Dupont, flyhalf Zack Holmes from Australia and All Black prop Charlie Faumuina.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
