Cape Town - Former and Sharks and Springbok skipper Gary Teichmann has been confirmed as the new CEO of the Durban franchise, effective November 1, 2016.
Teichmann, 49, who played 42 Tests for South Africa between 1995 and 1999, replaces John Smit at the helm of the union.
Sharks chairman Stephen Saad and outgoing CEO Smit welcomed Teichmann and it was reported on their Twitter page that the former number eight will initially be CEO for the next three years.
Teichmann has forged a successful business and is a director at Teichmann Plant and Civils and has great support among former Sharks players and businessmen in Durban.
Smit will leave his post as CEO in October.
The Sharks confirmed the news on their Twitter page on Wednesday.
