Stormers dealt Coleman injury blow

Cape Town - According to Independent Media, Stormers flyhalf Kurt Coleman has been ruled out for the rest of the season following a knee injury sustained during training on Tuesday.

The playmaker has been in fine form following a stellar performance in the 31-11 victory over the Brumbies at Newlands in Round Four.

Coleman played an instrumental role, with his well placed territorial kicks allowing the home side to apply pressure on the Canberra side.

It has been reported that the 26-year-old sustained the injury after he felt discomfort in his knee, following a series of backline moves.

Coleman however continued with the training until he no longer could walk due to the severe discomfort.

Following the initial assesment conducted by medical staff, it was feared that the ligament had torn away completely from the bone and the subsequent scans done by the specialist confirmed this.

Independent Media report that the Knysna-born pivot will undergo surgery on Friday and is likely to be out for the rest of the year.

He joins fellow flyhalf Robert du Preez, who is set to return after the June internationals, on the sidelines.

The Stormers are currently topping the Africa One Conference and will have to dig deep to keep up their fine form with two of their playmakers are out of action.

Head coach Robbie Fleck looks set to hand the number ten jersey to the youngster Jean-Luc du Plessis.
