Smiler handed citing warning

Cape Town - Brumbies back-rower Jordan Smiler has been given a citing commissioner warning for foul play in Friday's clash with the Lions.

Smiler received the warning for contravening Law 10.4(a) Striking with the knee.

The incident occurred in the ninth minute of the match which the Lions won 13-6 in Canberra.

Smiler made contact with his knee to the back of a Lions player in the ruck.

A warning may be issued by the SANZAAR Citing Commissioner for foul play incidents that are very close to, but in his opinion do not meet the red card threshold for citings.

Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed a warning was appropriate.
