Cape Town - Stormers and Springbok flank Siya Kolisi’s ankle operation went according to plan.
Kolisi, 25, went under the knife on Tuesday after injuring his ankle in the third minute of the Stormers’ 60-21 Super Rugby quarter-final loss to the Chiefs at Newlands last Saturday.
He will be sidelined for up to three months and will miss the Springboks’ Rugby Championship campaign.
Kolisi started all three of the Springboks' Tests against Ireland in June.
The Boks start their Rugby Championship campaign against Argentina in Nelspruit on August 20 and finish against the All Blacks in Durban on October 8.
Kolisi tweeted a picture of himself in hospital thanking all his well-wishers:
The opp went well. Thanks so much for all the messages I really appreciate all the message pic.twitter.com/qJb9R5Wtc5
