Sharks smash Cheetahs in Umlazi

Durban - The Sharks smashed the Cheetahs 35-7 in a Super Rugby pre-season friendly in Umlazi on Friday night.

It is obviously hard to read too match into the match ahead of the new Super Rugby season, but the Sharks will be pleased with the result, especially given that they were down to 13 men at one stage thanks to yellow cards to Phillip van der Walt and Keegan Daniel.

The hosts ran in five tries while the visitors scored just one

New signings Kobus van Wyk and Jeremy Ward scored for the Sharks while fit-again scrumhalf Cobus Reinach also crossed the whitewash.

Scorers:

Sharks

Tries: Coenie Oothuizen, Kobus van Wyk, Jeremy Ward, Cobus Reinach, Jean Drooste.

Conversions: Pat Lambie (4), Benhard Janse van Rensburg.

Cheetahs

Try: Nico Lee.

Conversion: Niel Marais.
