Sharks lock off to France

Cape Town - French Top 14 club Lyon on Tuesday announced the signings of two South African locks.

Sharks lock Etienne Oosthuizen has agreed to leave South Africa for France, while Francois van der Merwe will move from Racing 92 to Lyon.

According to Lyon's official website, Oosthuizen has signed a three-year contract, while Van der Merwe has agreed to a two-year deal.

Oosthuizen, 24, is expected to leave the Sharks at the conclusion of this year’s Super Rugby competition.

Van der Merwe, 33, played for for the Parisian club between 2008 and 2017, having previously represented the Stormers.
