On their official Twitter account, the Durbanites thanked April and Geldenhuys for their contributions to the franchise and wished them well on their future endeavours.

When quizzed by fans as to where the duo were headed, the Sharks replied that Geldenhuys will be "leaving to New Zealand".

Geldenhuys has had previous ties in New Zealand, where he played ITM Cup rugby for Tasman and signed for the Highlanders for their 2015 Super Rugby season before returning to South Africa.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old April is "heading over to Japan Top League team, NTT Shining Arcs".

The Sharks were beaten 40-10 by the Crusaders in the Super Rugby quarter-finals in Christchurch last weekend.
