Sharks centre cited for dangerous tackle

Cape Town - Sharks centre Jeremy Ward has been cited for a dangerous tackle during his side's Super Rugby loss to the Bulls on Saturday.

The Sharks lost the match 37-14

The incident in question happened during the first half of the contest when Ward delivered an off-the-ball hit on Bulls wing Rosko Specman.

At the time, Ward was not punished for the tackle with referee Marius van der Westhuizen not sending it upstairs.

The nature of the tackle, which saw Ward tip Specman over before dropping him on the ground, has led to the player being cited after the match and Ward now faces a suspension once he hears hit fate from SANZAAR.

The Sharks, who have won two and lost two in the 2019 tournament, have a bye this coming weekend.
