Johannesburg - Cheetahs wing Sergeal Petersen received good news in his MR scan after being injured in this past weekend’s win over the Kings in Durban.
According to SuperSport, while Petersen feared the worst after injuring his quad muscle, the good news was that it was only a grade one tear, meaning he has been ruled out for 10 days and not weeks as he had possibly feared.
The Cheetahs have a bye this weekend in Vodacom Super Rugby and will want him ready for next weekend’s final game before the June break against the Stormers.
However, the recovery period puts him in the middle of next week and he is likely to have to get past a fitness test in order to be ready for the game.
A lot of attention will be given to Petersen’s injury as he is seen to be one of the main contenders for the wing position for the June Test series against Ireland.
The Cheetahs are on a bye week this week and more detail is likely when they return next week.
