    Savea warned for dangerous play

    2018-07-01 13:10

Cape Town - Julian Savea of the Hurricanes has been issued with a warning by SANZAAR for dangerous play.

Savea contravened Law 9.11 - A player must not do anything that is reckless or dangerous to others, during a Super Rugby encounter between the Brumbies and the Hurricanes in Canberra.

The incident occurred in the 77th minute of the match when Savea lifted Brumbies No 8 Isi Naisarani from the ground and then threw him past the horizontal in an action to clean him out of the ruck.

A warning may be issued by the SANZAAR Citing Commissioner for foul play incidents that are very close to, but in his opinion do not meet the red card threshold for citings.

Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed a warning was appropriate.
