Cape Town - Gareth Evans of the Hurricanes has been issued with a warning by SANZAAR for dangerous play.
Evans contravened Law 9.20 - A player must not make contact above the line of the shoulders, during a Super Rugby encounter between the Brumbies and the Hurricanes in Canberra.
The incident occurred in the 69th minute of the match when Evans gripped Brumbies No 8 Isi Naisarani around the head/neck region at a ruck and continued to maintain contact in attempt to remove the player from the ruck.
A warning may be issued by the SANZAAR Citing Commissioner for foul play incidents that are very close to, but in his opinion do not meet the red card threshold for citings.
Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed a warning was appropriate.
