Role changes for Stormers coaches

    2018-02-13 08:29

Cape Town - The Stormers have shuffled the roles of their coaching team for the 2018 Super Rugby competition.

Paul Treu, formerly the team's defence coach, is now the assistant coach for structural play.

What this means, according to Netwerk24, is that Treu coaches the team until the third phase on attack, while on defence he takes charge from the first phase until the set-pieces.

Paul Feeney, last season’s backline and skills coach, will now be in charge of attack and defence from unstructured play.

Russell Winter, last season’s forwards coach, is now the assistant coach for forwards and contact situations - this area includes the breakdown scenarios.

The changes were made to create more synergy between the coaching staff.

“What Fleckie (Robbie Fleck, head coach) and Gert (Smal, director of rugby) want is that our roles fit with our personalities,” Treu said.

The Stormers open their Super Rugby campaign at home against the Jaguares on Saturday (15:05 kick-off).

Fleck will name his team on Thursday.

Assistant coach for backline and skills: Paul Feeney
