Papier says no thanks to Stormers

Cape Town - Springbok and Bulls scrumhalf Embrose Papier has reportedly turned down an offer to play for the Stormers.

Afrikaans publication Netwerk24 reported on Sunday that the 21-year-old had signed a new three-year deal to stay at the Bulls.

The report added that the Stormers were interested in Papier’s services as they viewed him as a replacement for Dewaldt Duvenage, who has joined Italian PRO14 side Benetton.

Papier, who represented the Boks in three Tests in 2018, grew up in the Boland and represented them at the under-13 Craven Week, before being lured up north to Hoërskool Garsfontein in Pretoria where he represented the Blue Bulls at under-16 and 18 levels.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
