Newly married couple rush to Ellis Park to watch Lions v Crusaders

Cape Town - You've heard the line in the old song: 'Get me to the church on time'.

Well, for one newly married couple it appears to have been a case of 'Get me to Ellis Park on time'!

According to the Stuff website, that was the case for a couple in Johannesburg, who allegedly went from their wedding to Ellis Park to watch the Lions host the Crusaders in their Easter Sunday Super Rugby clash.

The couple were pictured in their wedding finery in the stands.

The wife was still wearing her white wedding dress, while her husband was sporting a suit and tie. In the row behind them were a couple, clad in Lions replica jerseys, holding signs proclaiming: "Just Married".

Although the match was played on April 1, there's no suggestion it was an April Fool's prank.

The only blemish on this pair's big day was the result, with the Lions losing 14-8 with the defending champion Crusaders in what was a repeat of last year's final.
