    Ndungane expects tough, fast Jaguares

    2016-03-02 11:57

Cape Town - He is 35-years-old and has been at the Sharks since 2005, but Odwa Ndungane is showing no signs of slowing down just yet.

The right wing scored two tries in his side's 43-8 win over the struggling Kings in Port Elizabeth on Saturday - a good start for the Durban lads given their disappointing 11th place finish in Super Rugby 2015.

But Ndungane has been around long enough to know that nothing is achieved on the first weekend of a season.

"It's definitely a good start. We worked pretty hard in the weeks and months prior to the first game. To get six tries in PE is never easy," he said.

"I think there are a lot of good things that we can take out of that game. But there is still lots of room for improvement."

The Sharks return to King's Park this weekend where they host the Jaguares, who defeated the Cheetahs 34-33 in Bloemfontein in their first ever Super Rugby match on Friday night.

The Jaguares boast a number of the Argentinean internationals who did battle at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, and they are considered a major threat in this competition.

"After watching them (Argentina) in the World Cup and the (Rugby) Championship it's going to be a tough, physical and fast game," said Ndungane.

"That is what we have been exposed to in Super Rugby so it won't be any different.

"I watched them against the Cheetahs and they are a team that throws the ball around. You have to be really tight against them, you can't give them a sniff otherwise they'll punish you.

"Playing against a team from Argentina is always going to be special. I'm it's going to be tough but enjoyable."

The Sharks and the Jaguares clash at 19:20 on Saturday.
