Mitchell unhappy with referee's decision

Cape Town -  Bulls coach John Mitchell has expressed his frustration at referee Shuhei Kubo after his side's loss against the Chiefs in Hamilton on Friday.

The Bulls, who led 28-14 at half-time, imploded in the second-half as the Chiefs scored 27 unanswered points.

Mitchell was not happy when the Bulls were denied a try by scrumhalf Embrose Papier, when Lood de Jager was deemed to have blocked the line.

"When you go back to the footage, it looked like Lood didn't even change his line. So that was a huge moment," said Mitchell, as quoted by

Mitchell also took exception to the fact that the Chiefs received numerous warnings, saying: "They got a double warning, so that was very kind, I think.

"We tried to persuade the referee, we thought we had him on our side with all the infringements that were going against the Chiefs, and all they got was a warning."

The Pretoria-outfit have now lost three games on the trot and remain third in the South African Conference.

Despite the disappointing loss, Mitchell sees some positivity as they face the reigning Super Rugby champions in Christchurch next week.

"Sometimes failure gets in the road of growth," Mitchell said.

"So it's just important that we recognise that there was actually a really good mindset today and exceptional approach."

In next weekend's action the Bulls take on the Crusaders in Christchurch next Friday, March 23 at 08:35 SA time.
