Durban - Highly-rated Cheetahs wing Makazole Mapimpi is likely to play his final game for the franchise on January 20 when they take on the Kings in the PRO14.
There has been some confusion over the future of the 27-year-old.
In November last year, the Sharks announced that they had secured the player's services for the 2018 Super Rugby season but then reports out of Bloemfontein suggested that the Cheetahs had managed to hold onto the player.
But, according to a report published on SA Rugbymag, the Sharks move will go ahead and he is expected to join up with his new team-mates in Durban on January 23.
Mapimpi has been in superb form for the Cheetahs in their maiden PRO14 season, scoring nine tries in 10 matches to top the scoring charts.
His pace and finishing, which were also on display for the Kings in Super Rugby last year, when he scored 11 tries, have also seen him linked to a Springbok call-up.
The Sharks have also confirmed the signings of Robert du Preez and Leolin Zas from the Stormers.
The Durbanites get their 2018 Super Rugby campaign underway when they take on the Lions in Johannesburg on February 17.
