Cape Town - Springbok lock Lood de Jager has played his last Super Rugby match for the Cheetahs and will play for either the Lions or Bulls next season.
De Jager, who picked up a calf injury playing for the Springboks in the June Test window, is currently undergoing a rehabilitation programme and will not feature in the remainder of the Super Rugby competition.
His last Super Rugby game for the Cheetahs was against the Stormers at Newlands on May 28.
His contract with the Cheetahs expires at the end of this year’s Currie Cup and he has confirmed that he will leave the Bloemfontein franchise.
In an in interview with Netwerk24, De Jager said he would like to go to a franchise capable of winning trophies.
“There are lots of things that still need to fall in place. Nothing has been finalised yet. But it’s between the Bulls and Lions so we’ll have to wait and see how the negotiations develop.”
The 23-year-old De Jager, who boasts 20 Test caps, is expected to be fit for the Rugby Championship.
