The Lions (23) are now five points clear at the top of Africa Conference 2, leading the Jaguares and Sharks who are both on 18 points.

In next weekend’s action, the Lions have a bye, while the Sharks host the Jaguares in Durban.

Not often the best player award goes to the losing side, but Sharks flyhalf Curwin Bosch was again sublime tonight.

What an exciting game and a great advertisement for South African rugby - in front of a 38 000-strong crowd!

Great intent on attack from both sides, and apart from several handling errors, it was a high-quality affair.

The Sharks will rue the yellow card to Etienne Oosthuizen - the Lions scored 14 points in his absence - as it eventually proved the difference.

Oosthuizen's earlier transgression also cost the Sharks a try which would have put them 18-3 ahead with a goal-kick to come...

The Sharks secure the ball and after some good handling Esterhuizen goes over and scores in the corner. The TMO however rules that in the lead up to the try Oosthuizen was guilty of a high tackle on De Klerk.
