The Stormers have been taught a rugby lesson again today! The gulf between the Kiwi sides and the rest of the pack is quite simply frightening.

The Stormers had a lot of possession but seemed clueless what to do with ball in hand.

Also, their defence remains atrocious but I guess that's what happens when you appoint a defence coach to "learn on the job"...

Welcome back for the second half!

Du Preez restarts proceedings...

  • 80'

TRY, HIGHLANDERS, FADDES! 57-14: After seven phases and some excellent handling by the Highlanders they score yet another try. Wheeler had the final say with a clever kick through and it bounced well for Faddes, who made no mistake. Luckily for the Stormers, Osborne misses the easy conversion.

  • 80'

FULL TIME: The Highlanders have obliterated the Stormers and gave them a rugby lesson here in Dunedin. This is a new record score for the Highlanders against the Stormers. The Stormers were too predictable always opting for the same tactics, which never worked.

  • 80'

  • 79'

The Stormers have had 54% of the possession and enjoyed 52% territory advantage.

  • 76'

CONVERSION, STORMERS, DU PREEZ! 52-14: Du Preez narrows the gap to 38 points!

  • 75'

TRY, STORMERS, DUVENAGE! 52-12: They secure the scrum and then Duvenage goes on his own and scores an easy try. That is about time for the Stormers.

  • 74'

The Stormers win a penalty, as Osborne is penalised. This time the Stormers go for a five metre scrum.

  • 72'

CONVERSION, HIGHLANDERS, BANKS! 52-7: Banks extends the lead with a brilliant kick.

  • 71'

TRY, HIGHLANDERS, PLEASANTS-TATE! 50-7: This time it is the Highlanders that put together ten phases. Fekitoa then finds a gap and Pleasants-Tate makes no mistake, as he scores!

CONVERSION, HIGHLANDERS, BANKS! 45-7: Banks extends the lead.

  • 66'

TRY, HIGHLANDERS, HUNT! Aaron Smith takes a quick penalty six metres from the Stormers line. He goes wide and Hunt scores the easiest of tries. Great work by the Highlanders and Aaron Smith, with only 14 men.

  • 64'

Aaron Smith sees a gap and finds that there was nobody home. The pass to Fekitoa goes wrong and the Stormers carry it over for a five metre scrum. A great 60 metre break by Aaron Smith.

  • 63'

Marais finds touch for a Highlanders lineout, near their own 22.

  • 60'

What a joke. The Stormers string together 13 phases and comes to within ten metres from the line. The ball is stolen out of Carr's hands by Aaron Smith, who clears well.

  • 58'

Believe it or not Ben Smith then gets hold of the ball and kicks deep. The bounce favours the Highlanders and Naholo picks it up and outsprints Kolbe, to score.

  • 53'

This time they win the lineout and come oh so close, only to turn it over yet again. That was too easy for the Highlanders. How are they going to score, if they keep on making these silly mistakes. How much do they want this?

  • 52'

The Stormers win a penalty for a high tackle against Fekitoa on Leyds. Once again they have a lineout near the Highlanders goal line.

  • 50'

Kolbe launches a counter attack, but again they mess it up with some scrappy play.

  • 43'

The Stormers string together 13 phases only to turn it over again. Aaron Smith is then penalised and Du Preez finds touch nine metres from the Highlanders line.

  • 40'

HALF TIME: This is rinse and repeat for the Stormers after their performance against the Crusaders last week. The Highlanders have scored five tries to one in the first half. Please join us soon for an exciting second half.

  • 40'

  • 39'

TRY, HIGHLANDERS, THOMPSON: 29-7: Yet another turnover by the Highlanders leads to a try. Ben Smith breaks and finds Osborne, who offloads well to Thompson, who scores.

  • 38'

This time it is the Stormers that maul forward. However after five phases the ball is turned over. The Highlanders find touch near the halfway line.

  • 36'

Again the Highlanders maul forward after the lineout. This time the Stormers at least show some defensive skills and win a penalty. They take it quickly and win another penalty near the halfway line. The Stormers feed a lineout near the Highlanders 22.

  • 34'

The Highlanders go again and string together six phases. They win a penalty, as the Stormers go off their feet in the ruck. We have another five metre lineout.

  • 32'

CONVERSION, HIGHLANDERS, BANKS! 24-7: Banks extends the lead with a good kick.

  • 30'

TRY, HIGHLANDERS, SQUIRE! 22-7: They win the lineout and all to easy maul forward, as Squire scores. The Stormers will have to improve on their defence.

  • 29'

Aaron Smith goes wide after a scrum and Osborne makes good ground again. After five phases, they win a penalty on the Stormers 22. They feed a lineout five metres out.

  • 28'

Du Preez goes high and it is well taken by Banks. Aaron Smith then kicks deep and the Stormers lead a counter attack, but a forward pass by Marais, messes it up.

  • 28'

We have a stoppage due to injury.

  • 26'

Du Preez pushes it wide. Not a good night for the kickers thus far.

  • 25'

The Stormers win a penalty inside the Highlanders 22. They go for the points. Halanukonuka is the guilty party.

  • 23'

    Banks misses another conversion.

  • 22'

TRY, HIGHLANDERS, OSBORNE! 17-7: Ben Smith is quick to pounce on the bounce of the ball. He creates a gap and then offloads to Osborne, who goes over for his second try. A clever try.

  • 21'

That was an unfortunate penalty against Kebble, which lead to a try. The Stormers can count themselves unlucky.

  • 19'

    Marty Banks misses the conversion.

  • 18'

TRY, HIGHLANDERS, NAHOLO! 12-7: They secure their lineout and go wide. Ben Smith breaks and offloads to Aaron Smith, who picks out Naholo on the wide, to score.

  • 17'

The Stormers give away a lineout penalty, as Kebble is penalised. The Highlanders opt for a seven metre lineout.

  • 12'

TRY, HIGHLANDERS, OSBORNE! 5-7: The Stormers turn the ball over and then Kolisi kicks possession away. Banks and Lienert-Brown then launch a counter attack and in the end Osborne scores in the corner. Big mistake by Kolisi.

  • 11'

Marty Banks kicks through and the ball bounces nicely for Osborne. They spread the ball but cannot really get over the advantage line. They secure a lineout on the Stormers 10 metre line.

  • 9'

CONVERSION, STORMERS, DU PREEZ! 0-7: Du Preez extends the lead to seven.

  • 8'

TRY, STORMERS, CARR! 0-5: Kolbe kicks deep and Ben Smith clears well. Marais then launches a counter attack. Good handling and a few phases later, Kolisi has the final run and offloads to Carr, who scores!

  • 6'

The lineout is secured and the Highlanders maul forward. A forward pass means the attack comes to an end for a Stormers scrum. Ben Smith is down due an injury, but he seems ok.

  • 5'

The Stormers lose possession and the Highlanders kick it through. Marais does well to salvage the ball. The ball goes directly into touch for a Highlanders lineout on the Stormers 22.

  • 3'

Eben Etzebeth wins the first lineout, as the Stormers win the first penalty and Franklin is penalised. They have a lineout inside the Highlanders half.
