70'- Replays show a head clash between the players, but the officials decide is was intentional.

That may have been the case, but the tackle was still late... should at the very least have been a penalty to the Cheetahs...

12 May 11:09

12 May 11:04
66'- A promising Cheetahs attack near the Blues 22m area goes awry for the Cheetahs when Blommetjies opts for a grubber in behind the defence. It doesn't work and hands possession back to the home side...

12 May 10:57

12 May 10:23

Two late penalty goals from Fred Zeilinga means the Cheetahs are right in this.

But they'll have to do something about their defence.

HALF-TIME: Blues 24-18 Cheetahs

  • 80'

FULL TIME: As expected the Blues come out on top here in Auckland. It was an exciting game, but poor tackling from the Cheetahs did not help their cause.

  • 80'

  • 79'

NO TRY! The Blues launch an attack inside the Cheetahs half and after seven phases, it appears as if O?Donnell, has gone over in the corner. The TMO confirms that he was in touch, so it is NO TRY and great tackling by Huggett.

  • 78'

CONVERSION, CHEETAHS, ZEILINGA! 50-32: Zeilinga makes no mistake.

  • 77'

TRY, CHEETAHS, HUGGETT! 50-30: Once again the Cheetahs have a lineout near the Blues line. They win the lineout and the subsequent drive leads to another try, for Huggett. That is his second tonight.

  • 75'

The Cheetahs launch an attack inside their own half and make their way to the Blues 22, only to mess it up with a knock on. Very untidy and scrappy from them. That had a try written all over it, but it was not meant to be.

  • 72'

Luatua sends the ball away after a scrum and the Blues work their way into the Cheetahs 22. The ball is then turned over, as a result of a knock on. We have a Cheetahs scrum near their own 22.

  • 69'

    West misses the conversion.

  • 68'

TRY, BLUES, NANAI! 50-25: What a try and a move that started near their own 22. That was really good handling together with some offloads. Once again we have missed tackles by the Cheetahs. Great work in the end by Nanai.

  • 67'

They go wide after the lineout and Blommetjies tries a box kick, but the bounce favours the Blues. What a waste.

  • 65'

The Cheetahs win a penalty for a deliberate knockdown by Hodgman. They find touch near the Blues 22.

  • 64'

The Blues win a penalty near the Cheetahs 10 metre line, as Oupa Mohoje is offside. West finds touch 16 metres out from the Cheetahs line. The Cheetahs turn it over at the lineout and Blommetjies finds touch.

  • 62'

All the good work is undone by Coetzee, who is guilty of collapsing the scrum. The lineout is five metres from the Cheetahs line. The Cheetahs then manage to win the ball at the lineout. Great work!

  • 60'

Huggett does well, as the Cheetahs win the ball back, for a scrum six metres from their own line.

  • 59'

The Cheetahs concede a penalty after Cassiem fails to release the ball. The Blues find touch five metres out from the Cheetahs line.

  • 58'

CONVERSION, CHEETAHS, ZEILINGA! 45-25: Zeilinga narrows the gap.

  • 57'

TRY, CHEETAHS, HUGGETT! 45-23: The Cheetahs win the lineout and drive forward. Just like they did earlier, the drive leads to a try, as Huggett goes over.

  • 56'

The Cheetahs win a penalty five metres from the Blues line. Luatua has been penalised for collapsing the maul. The Referee also warned him. They find touch five metres from the line.

  • 54'

CONVERSION, BLUES, WEST! 45-18: West makes no mistake.

  • 53'

TRY, BLUES, IOANE! 43-18: Good work by the Ioane brothers and again not good defence from the Cheetahs, as Reiko Ioane goes over, after some fancy footwork and a nice offload from his brother. The Blues will be hard to stop now.

  • 52'

TRY, BLUES, PULU! 36-18: The Blues attack after the lineout and Tuipulotu offloads well to Pulu, who runs through to score. The TMO confirms all in order, as the Cheetahs regret that attempt at a quick throw.

  • 52'

CONVERSION, BLUES, WEST! 38-18: West adds two more.

  • 50'

The Cheetahs mess up a quick lineout throw, only to hand possession back to the Blues.

  • 48'

CONVERSION, BLUES, WEST! 31-18: West extends the lead.

  • 47'

TRY, BLUES, LUATUA! 29-18: Steven Luatua breaks after a lineout and after seven phases and good handling, Faumuina offloads to Luatua, who finishes off what he started with that break.

  • 45'

West breaks the line after a scrum and the Blues progress over the halfway line. They win a penalty for offside. West finds touch seven metres from the Cheetahs line.

  • 43'

Ihaia West is on for Piers Francis.

  • 42'

The Cheetahs get the ball back after the start and Blommetjies launch an attack from inside his half. Eventually Zeilinga finds touch 15 metres from the Blues line.

  • 41'

Blommetjies starts proceedings in the second half.

  • 40'

PENALTY, CHEETAHS, ZEILINGA! 24-18: The Cheetahs have a scrum near the Blues 22, with a minute to go before the break. After some resets they win a penalty at the scrum, as Faumuina is penalised. Zeilinga narrows the gap on the stroke of halftime.

  • 40'

HALF TIME: That was quite an exciting first half, with six tries being scored. The Blues have looked dangerous everytime they launched an attack. The Cheetahs will have to tighten up their defence if want to stay in this game.

  • 40'

  • 38'

PENALTY, CHEETAHS, ZEILINGA! 24-15: We have a penalty to the Cheetahs this time, as Tuipulotu joins the ruck incorrectly. Zeilinga goes for goal and scores.

  • 36'

    Francis misses the conversion.

  • 35'

TRY, BLUES, TUIPULOTU! 24-12: They go wide after the lineout and string together five phases. Tuipulotu, then goes over to score, after some good interplay by the Blues locks. Once again not good tackling by the Cheetahs.

  • 33'

The Blues win another penalty after a deliberate knockdown. Francis is down due to an injury, but seems ok and finds touch near the Cheetahs 10 metre line.

  • 32'

The Cheetahs win a lineout near the halfway line, despite it being contested. After six phases Venter is isolated and the Blues win a penalty, as Uys fails to release the ball. Francis finds touch near the halfway line.

  • 30'

Venter launches a Cheetahs attack near the Blues 10 metre line. Zeilinga then opts for the cross-kick and finds Petersen. He fails to make good ground and kicks it away.

  • 28'

The Cheetahs win the lineout and then receive another penalty. Blommetjies finds touch five metres out this time. What a mess and the Blues gain possession, as a result of accidental offside.

  • 26'

The Cheetahs now win a penalty after the maul collapse. Scrafton is penalised and we then have a little altercation amongst the forwards. Blommetjies finds touch on the Blues 22.

  • 24'

    Francis misses the conversion.

  • 23'

TRY, BLUES, IOANE! 19-12: Akira Ioane wins the lineout and they launch an attack. After changing direction, Akira Ioane gets the ball again and storms over for a simple try. The Cheetahs are just too lateral at the moment.

  • 22'

The Blues win a penalty, as the Cheetahs go into the ruck from the side. Jordaan is the guilty party. Francis finds touch near the Cheetahs 10 metre line.

  • 20'

CONVERSION, BLUES, FRANCIS! 14-12: Francis regains the lead.

  • 19'

TRY, BLUES, SCRAFTON! 12-12: Good tight play from the Blues after the lineout. Somehow Scrafton finds the ball and with no Cheetah player near him, he dives over for an easy try.

  • 18'

The Blues win a penalty for a high tackle. Francis finds touch six metres from the Cheetahs line.

  • 15'

CONVERSION, CHEETAHS, ZEILINGA! 7-12: Zeilinga slots it this time.

  • 14'

TRY, CHEETAHS, VAN JAARSVELD! 7-10: The Cheetahs secure the lineout and the drive leads to Torsten van Jaarsveld, going over for a typical South African try.

  • 13'

The Cheetahs win a penalty at the lineout and finds touch seven metres from the Blues line.

  • 12'

CONVERSION, BLUES, FRANCIS! 7-5: Francis ensures the Blues take the lead.

  • 11'

TRY, BLUES, IOANE! 5-5: The Blues secure their lineout and go left. Good handling and a nice offload by Nanai. means that Rieko Ioane goes over, without a hand being laid on him.

  • 10'

The Cheetahs run the ball from inside their half and then Zeilinga finds a good touch near the halfway line.

  • 9'

    Zeilinga misses the conversion.

  • 8'

TRY, CHEETAHS, VENTER, 0-5: The Cheetahs win the lineout and go wide and to the right. After seven phases and a bit of effort on the line, Venter goes over to score. Great team work.

  • 6'

Francis breaks again after the lineout. They string together six phases and it is turned over. Blommetjies, drives them back with a deep kick and we have a lineout on the Blues 10 metre line.

  • 5'

They secure the lineout, but then give possession away for a Blues lineout on the Cheetahs 10 metre line.

  • 3'

The Cheetahs keep their early possession, but then kick it high. The Blues then lead an attack from inside their half. After 10 phases Francis breaks the line, but he is well tackled by Marais. The Cheetahs win a penalty 15 metres from their line, as Ioane goes offside. They opt for a lineout.

  • 1'

Piers Francis, starts proceedings here in Auckland.

  • 0'

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Super Rugby clash between the Blues and the Cheetahs, from Eden Park, in Auckland.

  • 0'

The Cheetahs have never beaten the Blues in Auckland. They further have a poor away record having lost 10 away games in a row.

  • 0'

While the Cheetahs have been able to score tries, they also concede far too many and this has been their downfall. Last weekend, they scored six tries but also conceded six as they went down to the Highlanders.

  • 0'

The Blues have lost half of their games this season but these losses have only come against New Zealand opposition who have proven they are in a different class. The Blues therefore have a one hundred percent record against non Kiwi teams.

  • 0'

Patrick Tuipulotu, makes his return from injury for the Blues with Gerard Cowley-Tuioti moving to the bench. Michael Collins and Matt Duffie is rested this week. Melani Nanai returns to the starting line-up at full-back with Declan O?Donnell playing on the right wing. TJ Faiane starts in place of Sonny-Bill Williams, who is still injured. The Blues also welcome back some players from injury. These include Alex Hodgman, Kara Pryor, Ihaia West and Sam Nock. Hame Faiva replaces the injured Matt Moulds.

  • 0'

The Cheetahs have made three changes to their starting line-up. Charles Marais comes in for Ox Nche at loosehead prop, with Nche providing cover on the bench, while Tom Botha is in at tighthead ahead of Johan Coetzee. In the back row the Paul Schoeman, is replaced by Niell Jordaan.

Our Referee today is Brendon Pickerill. We had some rain earlier but it is dry now.
