Lions unscathed after Waratahs mauling

Cape Town - The Lions on Monday reported no new injuries following their 29-0 Super Rugby win over the Waratahs in Sydney.

There is however still uncertainty whether captain Warren Whiteley will feature for the Lions on their Australasian tour.

Whiteley, who has been battling a knee injury this year, was originally named in the touring squad and was expected to make his comeback against the Waratahs.

However, he re-injured the knee in training last week and was a late withdrawal as he visited an orthopaedic surgeon in Johannesburg.

There is still hope that Whiteley will join up with the Lions during their tour, but nothing is confirmed yet.

The Lions face the Reds in Brisbane this Saturday (07:05 SA time), before concluding their tour with games against the Hurricanes in Wellington (May 5) and Highlanders in Dunedin (May 12).

The Lions team for the Reds clash will be named on Thursday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
