Lions' Tecklenburg set to hear fate

Cape Town - Lions flank Warwick Tecklenburg is set to hear his fate after he was cited for alleged foul play during his side’s 34-15 Super Rugby loss to the Highlanders in Dunedin last Saturday.

Tecklenburg is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (h) - which states that a player must not charge into a ruck or maul.

Charging includes any contact made without use of the arms, or without grasping a player.

Tecklenburg is alleged to have charged into a ruck and made contact with the head of Highlanders No 7 Dan Pryor in the 74th minute of the match at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

After reviewing the incident, SANZAAR Duty Judicial Officer Adam Cassleden decided that Tecklenburg must appear before a judicial hearing.

The Judicial Officer for the hearing will be Robert Steltzner and it will be held by video conference at 21:00 (SA time) on Tuesday.

In their next Super Rugby assignment, the Lions host the Cheetahs in Johannesburg on Saturday (17:05 kick-off).
