Lions sweat on Jantjies' broken finger

Cape Town - The Lions are sweating over the availability of flyhalf Elton Jantjies for the remainder of the Super Rugby tournament after he fractured a finger in their win over the Jaguares at the weekend.

Jantjies will consult a surgeon on Monday to determine the severity of the injury and whether surgery is needed.

This should therefore rule him out of action for Saturday’s clash against the Bulls in Pretoria. It's also a blow for Jantjies' chances to represent the Boks in the upcoming three-Test series against Ireland.

The men from Johannesburg suffered further blows during their 52-24 win over the Argentines, with fullback Jaco van der Walt ruled out for up to six weeks after sustaining a grade three PCL injury to his right knee.

Prop Corne Fourie also injured a rib cartilage and will undergo a late fitness test this week.
