Lions loosie would like to tackle Quade Cooper in boxing ring

Cape Town - Lions loose forward Hacjivah Dayimani says he hopes to one day challenge Wallabies playmaker Quade Cooper in the boxing ring.

In an exclusive interview with Sport24, Dayimani said boxing training has helped with him "punch above my weight" in rugby.

"It allows me to have strong shoulders and get up and down quicker than the rest of the players. In our free time, Elton Jantjies and I do boxing as a hobby and are white-collar boxers. Maybe later on in my career, I could challenge Quade Cooper to a boxing match to raise some funds for charity," he said.

Cooper, along with All Blacks star Sonny Bill Williams, in recent years entered the professional boxing ranks.

Dayimane added: "It would be a nice initiative. I would want to take Cooper on, but not Sonny Bill Williams. I have seen Quade fight once and I personally think that Sonny Bill is a much better boxer than him."

Meanwhile, for the moment, Dayimani remains focused on his goal with the Lions in Super Rugby.

He will feature on the bench when they tackle the Stormers at Newlands on Saturday (17:15 kick-off).
