Cape Town - Springboks Warren Whiteley and Malcolm Marx have recovered from their injuries and are available for selection, the Lions announced on Monday.
A fitness report released by the Johannesburg franchise revealed good news for the players.
The report said the duo “are both doing full training and are both available for selection this week”.
Whiteley (groin) and Marx (hamstring) were injured playing for the Lions in Super Rugby earlier this year and were not expected to take part in the Springboks’ series against England.
It remains unclear if they will be called up to the Bok squad for this weekend’s final Test at Newlands.
Meanwhile, the Lions also received some bad news with centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg out for an extended period due to a leg injury.
“Rohan Janse van Rensburg underwent an operation on Friday (June 15) to repair a fractured cartilage within the ankle joint as well as a high-grade syndesmosis injury. He got injured in the Super Rugby game against the Stormers and did not settle as expected. He will be out of rugby for approximately four months from the date of the operation," the Lions statement read.
The Lions’ next scheduled match is against the Sharks in Durban on June 30.
