Loosehead Jacques van Rooyen, who started the Super Rugby final against the Crusaders in Christchurch on Saturday, will leave the union to join Bath in England with immediate effect.
The 31-year old played 17 times for the Lions in this year's Super Rugby competition - and 66 matches in total - since making his debut in 2014.
He also has 48 caps for the Golden Lions in the Currie Cup competition.
Todd Blackadder, Bath's director of rugby was ecstatic that Van Rooyen had committed to the English club.
"We are really pleased to bring someone in of Jacques' calibre in time for the new season. He has proven himself in Super Rugby and will bring a great deal to the squad, both at the set-piece and with ball in hand," Blackadder told the club's website.
Van Rooyen is one of a number of players set to leave the Lions franchise, including flank Jaco Kriel, lock Franco Mostert and centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg and Ruan Dreyer.
