Lightning scare sees Lions training called off

Cape Town - The Lions were not able to train for their Super Rugby clash against the Sunwolves on Saturday because of a lightning scare.

Coach Swys de Bruin named his starting line-up for the fixture on Thursday, but he confirmed from Singapore that the weather had hampered their preparations.

"It's very humid here and we couldn't train because of a lightning scare," the coach said.

"We did all of our detail under roof cover. There is a good vibe in the camp and we are looking forward to the game."

Injuries after last weekend's thrilling win over the Rebels in Johannesburg have forced De Bruin to make numerous changes.

Lionel Mapoe will turn out at No 12 while lock Stephan Lewies makes the shift from the second row to No 7 flank. He will form a new-look loose trio with No 8 Ruan Vermaak and flank Marnus Schoeman.

Kick-off on Saturday is at 12:55 (SA time).
