Cape Town - Springbok and Lions flank Jaco Kriel has been linked with a move to English club Gloucester.
English publications - the Rugby Paper and Rugby Pass - are reporting that Kriel has signed a three-year deal with Gloucester.
Kriel signed a two-year deal with Japanese side Kubota Spears in June, which allows him to play Super Rugby for the Lions before heading to Japan.
This means Gloucester will likely only see Kriel join them in 2019.
Should he join Gloucester, Kriel could join up with his former mentor at the Lions, Johan Ackermann.
Ackermann left the Lions after this year’s Super Rugby competition to coach in the English Premiership.
Kriel, who is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, captained the Lions in the latter parts of the Super Rugby competition, as regular skipper Warren Whiteley was out injured.
The Lions lost 25-17 to the Crusaders in the final at Ellis Park.
