Jones inks new Waratahs deal

Cape Town - Loose forward Maclean Jones has signed on with the Waratahs after training with the team in 2017 and having an impressive year with the Warringah Rats.

Jones, the former Australian Under-20 skipper, toured to South Africa with the Tahs' in Rounds 2 and 3 of Super Rugby earlier this year where he made his debut against the Lions in Johannesburg.

Head coach Daryl Gibson says he looks forward to the young backrower making more of an impression on the group in 2018.

“We see enormous potential in Maclean,” he said.

“He will continue to develop his game with us through his next year at NSW and he will have a chance to realise his true ability.

“Maclean has a lot of hard work ahead as he strives to compete for a place in the backrow.”
