Port Elizabeth - Southern Kings head coach Deon Davids has confirmed that loose forwards CJ Velleman and Chris Cloete will not be available for the Super Rugby match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein this weekend.
Velleman has broken his thumb and will be going for scans on Monday, but would be out for at least six weeks and possibly longer.
Cloete sustained an injury to his knee in the dying minutes of the game against the Blues and will not be available for the rest of the Super Rugby season.
"He is seeing the specialist today for scans, should it be the MCL then he will be out for 12 weeks, if it is his ACL, he will be out for nine months," said Davids.
Davids said centre Stefan Watermeyer was also being monitored after pulling a tendon in his foot, under his big toe, which had resulted in significant swelling. He was also sent for scans on Monday.
Davids said prop Schalk Ferreira, who missed out on the Blues game with a hand injury, was recovering well, but would most likely not be available for the Cheetahs game.
