Injuries ravage Sharks backline

    2017-05-15 14:19

Durban - The Sharks have announced their 31-man squad for their trip to Singapore and a clash against the Sunwolves on Saturday.

As expected, captain and flyhalf Pat Lambie misses out with concussion following Saturday's loss to the Kings in Port Elizabeth, while centre Jeremy Ward is out with a broken nose and Rhyno Smith is also out with a pectoral muscle tear.

It leaves the Sharks backline severely damaged ahead of what has become a must-win following the Kings loss.

Garth April and Benhard Janse van Rensburg are the logical options at flyhalf.

Prop Coenie Oosthuizen, meanwhile, has been rested in line with the Springbok management plan.

    Sharks squad:

Chiliboy Ralepelle, Benhard Janse van Rensburg, Daniel du Preez, Cobus Reinach, Etienne Oosthuizen, Garth April, Franco Marais, Johan Deysel, Jacques Vermeulen, Kobus van Wyk, Jean-Luc du Preez, Lukhanyo Am, John-Hubert Meyer, Lwazi Mvovo, Juan Schoeman, Michael Claassens, Lourens Adriaanse, S’bura Sithole, Philip van der Walt, Sbu Nkosi, Ruan Botha, Stephan Lewies, Tendai Mtawarira, Tera Mtembu, Thomas du Toit
