Hurricanes thump Crusaders in warm-up match

Cape Town - The Hurricanes on Friday thumped the Crusaders 43-22 in a warm-up match in Greymouth, New Zealand.

Chris Boyd's charges led 36-5 at one stage against what was a young Crusaders line-up, before a three-try burst midway through the second half made the scoreline more respectable.

Wing Jonah Lowe scored a hat-trick of tries for the Hurricanes, who outscored the defending Super Rugby champions by seven tries to four.

Conversions: Jackson Garden-Bachop (2), Ihaia West (2).

Crusaders

Tries: Billy Harmon, Jack Stratham, Tima Faingaanuku, Manasa Mataele

Conversion: Brett Cameron

Meanwhile in other warm-up games, the Highlanders crushed the Waratahs 55-29 in Queenstown, while the Blues beat the Chiefs 45-19 in Te Kuiti.
