Cape Town - The Hurricanes on Friday thumped the Crusaders 43-22 in a warm-up match in Greymouth, New Zealand.
Chris Boyd's charges led 36-5 at one stage against what was a young Crusaders line-up, before a three-try burst midway through the second half made the scoreline more respectable.
Wing Jonah Lowe scored a hat-trick of tries for the Hurricanes, who outscored the defending Super Rugby champions by seven tries to four.
