Cape Town - Highlanders pair Elliot Dixon and Teihorangi Walden have signed new deals, committing themselves to the Otago outfit through to 2020.
Loose forward Dixon has agreed a deal to return to the Highlanders for the 2019 Super Rugby season after a short stint in Japan.
Centre Walden has also committed to the Otago outfit, and like Dixon, has penned a deal keeping him in Dunedin until 2020.
On Monday it was announced that Dixon would join the Ricoh Black Rams in the Japanese Top League at the completion of the Super Rugby season. The Top League runs from August to January, meaning the 28-year-old would be back in time for the 2019 Super Rugby season.
"It's great to get the opportunity to play a season in Japan at the end of this year. It will be a new challenge for me," Dixon said.
"I have been with the Highlanders a while now and I'm looking forward to another couple of years with them. We enjoy our lifestyle down here and the team environment is great."
Meanwhile, 24-year-old Walden has started all but one of the Highlanders' matches this season and has developed a formidable combination with centre partner Rob Thompson.
"I'm loving my time down South with the Highlanders, I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to re-sign with this very proud club," Walden said.
"I have been fortunate to play with and learn from some of the best in the game. I'm excited to be able to continue to grow as a player and contribute wherever I can to the Highlanders in the future."
