Fleck: Reds 'cheap shots' not recognised by ref

Cape Town - Stormers coach Robbie Fleck has hit out at the Reds for being overly physical in their Super Rugby encounter at Newlands over the weekend.

The Stormers were made to work hard for their 25-19 victory, having earlier had a handy 18-0 lead.

Fleck was however not happy with the manner in which the Reds went about their business and also expressed disappointment at the performance of referee Marius van der Westhuizen.

"We are disappointed about cheap shots they dished out early in the game that were not recognised by the referee," Fleck said, as quoted by AFP.

"There were at least four incidents that were not dealt with and that frustrated us. We were the dominant team but poor execution let us down."

The most serious incident saw Reds prop Taniela Tupou escape punishment in the ninth minute after a no-arms, high tackle, although he has since been cited for alleged foul play.
