Stormers sweat on Etzebeth's calf

Cape Town - The Stormers have received a blow ahead of Friday’s Super Rugby clash against the Sunwolves at Newlands with the news that lock Eben Etzebeth is in doubt.

Etzebeth, who has been colossal for the Stormers this season, injured his calf in a lineout session on Monday and the early prognosis was not positive.

Stormers coach Robbie Fleck confirmed that Etzebeth was due to have scans on the injury and that he would know more on Monday evening.

Fleck could not confirm whether Etzebeth would be out for the weekend or how serious the injury in fact was.

“We can’t say at this stage until we see the results of the scan, but it does look like we could possibly be without him this weekend,” said Fleck.

Meanwhile, Stormers fullback Cheslin Kolbe has been passed fit to play following his head knock against the Jaguares two weekends ago.

Friday's match kicks off at 19:00.
