Ernie hails Crusaders, congratulates Lions

Cape Town - Tweeting from Fiji, South African golfing great Ernie Els has congratulated the Crusaders on their 2018 Super Rugby triumph.

As it happened: Crusaders v Lions

The champion New Zealand side beat the Lions 37-18 in the final in Christchurch on Saturday to record an incredible ninth Super Rugby title.

For the Lions, it was sadly a hat-trick of final defeats.

Four-time Major winner, Els, now 48, is currently competing in the European Tour's Fiji International at Natadola Bay GC where he lies three shots off the lead heading into Sunday's final round.

The 'Big Easy' also had comforting words for the Lions, praising their "great season" and suggesting "their time will come".

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
