Cape Town - Sharks coach Robert du Preez has praised his side after their stunning Super Rugby win over the Highlanders in Durban on Saturday.
The Sharks ran in five tries on their way to an impressive 38-12 victory - their second win against New Zealand opposition in 2018.
From the very first minute, when Akker van der Merwe went over to score the first try, the Sharks were in control as they played some seriously impressive rugby.
Speaking after the match, Du Preez acknowledged that this was the best the Sharks had played under his leadership.
"We spoke after the Stormers game about taking ownership and taking our game to the next level, and this is probably one of the best Sharks performances I've seen in many years," he said.
"The boys really clicked tonight."
As good as the Sharks were, Du Preez believes they can perform even better.
"I think this team has got a lot more to offer. We know that we left quite a few tries out there tonight, but what a fantastic performance from everyone out there," he said.
"From 1 to 23 ... when the bench came on they did unbelievably well. There were some fantastic performances."
The result leaves the Sharks in 3rd position in the South African Conference and 8th overall. They must now prepare for a massive clash against the Bulls at Loftus on Saturday.
