Dixon in doubt for Stormers clash

Cape Town - All Blacks flank Elliot Dixon is a doubt for the Highlanders clash with the Stormers on Friday as he is suffering from a knee infection.

Kick-off is at 09:35 (SA time).

According to the Stuff website, Dixon woke up in pain on Thursday night and was immediately taken to hospital.

Dixon was supposed to start for the Otago outfit in their 40-15 win over the Sunwolves on Saturday, but ended up watching the game from a hospital bed.

Tony Brown's side face the Stormers next in a crucial match on Friday and Brown is doubtful about his star loose forward starting that game.

"He woke up with an infection in his leg so he's in hospital at the moment. We are just trying to get that under control, so he's an unlikely starter next week," said Brown.

"It blew up overnight and he was in all sorts of pain. He had to quickly get antibiotics into him and blood tests and ended up in hospital.

"He will be on antibiotics all week and hopefully we can get him right to get on the plane to South Africa."
